National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main on 17th Jan 2020 for Paper 1 and will release other result on 31st January, 2020 and 30th April, 2020; respectively. The JEE Main 2020 Result is declared @jeemain.nic.in. The candidates can check their result by using their Application Number and D.O.B/ Password.
The students qualifying JEE Main 2020 will be eligible for seeking admissions in the B.E / B.Tech / B.Arch / B.Plan courses in 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 28 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs) through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) councelling. The top 2 lakh candidates will qualify to appear for the JEE Advanced exam due in May which is conducted for admissions in IITs.

Note that the JEE Main 2020 Result will be declared twice, January and April, respectively. The result will be declared after the candidate have successfully cleared JEE Main 2020 Exam. JEE Main 2020 Result will be released in the rank or score format. Candidates are advised to download their result after viewing it before the link is removed. Below we have provided steps to help the candidate download result.

- STEP 2: Enter your Application Number, Password/ D.O.B and security pin.
- STEP 3: Click on the JEE Main Results button and download the result.
JEE Main 2020 Result Preparation
The cutoff marks for the JEE Advanced exam will be released in second week of June. The All India Ranks (AIRs) are prepared recording the best scores in both the exams. The JEE Main result uses the percentile score/ NTA scores of the candidates to declare the final result.
The following formulas will be used for generating JEE Main 2020 Results:
- First, the basic scores will be calculated using the designated marking scheme of the exam. +4 for a right answer and -1 for the wrong answer.
- Then, the Total Percentile (T1P) Score is calculated using the formula: 100x (No. of candidates appeared from the session with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than T1 score/ Total No. of candidates appeared in the session)
- The Subject wise Percentile Score for Mathematics (M1), Physics (P1) and Chemistry (C1) is calculated similarly.
- 100x (No. of candidates appeared from the session with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than M1 score in Mathematics/ Total No. of candidates appeared in the session)
- 100x (No. of candidates appeared from the session with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than P1 score in Physics/ Total No. of candidates appeared in the session)
- 100x (No. of candidates appeared from the session with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than C1 score in Chemistry/ Total No. of candidates appeared in the session)
JEE Main 2020 Result Merit List
The Merit List for JEE Main Exam is prepared based on the overall percentile score in descending order. This means that the student scoring the higher overall percentile is placed higher in the AIR list. For this, the overall percentile scores of both the attempts are compared.
Compilation and display of Result for January session:
Since, January JEE (Main)-2020 B.E./B.Tech first attempt will be conducted in multi-shifts, NTA scores will be calculated corresponding to the raw marks obtained by a candidate. The calculated NTA scores for all the shifts/sessions will be declared by 31st January, 2020. This shall comprise of the four NTA scores for each of the three subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) and the total in B.E./B.Tech of January JEE (Main)–2020.
Compilation and display of Result for January 2020:
Since, January JEE (Main)-2020 B.Arch and B.Planning will be conducted in multi-shifts, the raw marks obtained by all the candidates who appeared will be converted into NTA score and declared by 31st January, 2020. This shall comprise of four NTA scores for each of the three parts (Mathematics,
Aptitude Test, Drawing Test or Planning Based Test) and total in B.Arch/B.Planning of January JEE(Main)-2020.
What next after JEE Main 2020 Results are announced?
Result is announced based on final answer key. The next step is the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling.
For admission in IITs: Only the candidates who will have qualified JEE Advanced 2020 will be eligible to seek admission in IITs. Hence, they will have to register with JoSAA for filling their choices of institutes, branches and departments.
For admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and GFTIs: The candidates who qualify JEE Main 2020 will be eligible to register with JoSAA for filling their choices of institutes, branches and departments.
The candidates can register with JoSAA through josaa.nic.in using their Application number/ Enrollment number/ Roll number. The candidates must apply for various academic programmes in the order of preference and remit the Seat Allocation Fees. It is Rs. 15,000 for SC, ST, GEN-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD and ST- PwD. For rest, it is Rs.35,000.
The candidates who fail to register with JoSAA are not eligible to seek admissions in any above mnetioned institutes.
JEE Main 2020 Cut off
As mentioned earlier after the JEE Main 2020 Results are out, candidates will be able to check the cutoff for various undergraduate engineering courses. The cut off marks vary every year across candidates of the different category. Candidates will be able to apply for the college whose cutoff matches to the rank or score secured by that candidate.

Visit the offcial website. Click on “I C’ant access my account” button. Select ‘Forgot password/ forgot application number. You will be able to recover your Application number and reset your password. Login and download the result.
After the declaration of the Final Answer Key by NTA, the result cannot be challenged. Although, a small duration is provided for challenging the initial answer key.
The class 12th Board Results are for determining the eligibility of the candidate. Hence, one must score a minimum of 75% in Class 12th exam or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.
